Early Email #001: All About SMS

Hi! Kat here πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹

Welcome to the first-ever Early Email issue.

The goal is to give you email campaign ideas you can use for yourself or your clients.

Let's get to it!

IDEA: SMS-Collection (Existing List)

Do this to get the SMS numbers of your existing email list:

[Make your offer worth it, promise you'll only send great texts, and make it easy to opt-in and opt-out.]

1. Create an offer to entice your audience (X% off, free shipping, etc.)

Unless your brand is known for limited-time drops or there's a big sale coming up (BFCM), "early access" isn't really a big draw.

Sample: YCMC

2. Build a landing page to collect numbers for desktop users AND a two-tap popup form for mobile users.

OR ask your audience to text a keyword to your number.

Give em options. Cover all your bases.

Sample: Yellowbird Sauce

3. Prep 2-3 emails

Make your offer, promise to be a good texting buddy, and show clearly HOW to signup.

  • Main email

  • Followup email - Send two days after

  • Last email - Send three days after

Sample: Magic Spoon Cereal

4. SMS Flow

A simple flow to remind your audience to use their perk. One or two SMS/MMS would suffice.

Bonus: Add an SMS invite to your other campaigns.

Sample: Harry's (scroll to the bottom of the Harry’s email)

And that's it for our first issue. Phew!

Next week, we're talking Memorial Day.

Happy Emailing,
